The 9th International Design Study Forum and Conference (IDSFC 2022)

Design Revolution: Reconnection and Rebuilding

The National Yunlin University of Science and Technology's School of Design, in its efforts to enhance the energy of design research, continues to organize the "9th International Design Research Forum and Symposium." This forum and symposium serve as a platform for the presentation and interactive exchange of research outcomes in design education and practical design-related fields.

Since 1997, countries worldwide have emphasized the incorporation of "design" into social development to become competitive nations. Design is seen as a catalyst for industrial development, and the emphasis on "design research" is crucial for research and development directions. Design research serves as the cornerstone of industrial innovation, guiding future development directions. The continuous presentation of innovative thinking and practices in design internationally is expected to broaden the perspective of domestic design research through the organization of design research forums.

The global spread of the Covid-19 pandemic has changed people's lives, leading to alterations in the spaces and interactive relationships of work, life, leisure, and education. This has prompted global considerations for design approaches that focus on "sustainable development," "human-centricity," and "solving complex problems." Under the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, aspects of life such as essential needs, reconnection of interpersonal relationships, and rebuilding of societal development are all worthy of investigation through design research.

Call for Papers Topics:

The theme of this conference is "Design Revolution: Reconnection and Rebuilding." Design is a cyclical process of problem-solving, involving research, experimentation, evaluation, construction, and further research to meet needs, discover key elements, define goals, and create value. The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the production, life, ecology, and existence related to food, clothing, housing, transportation, nurturing, and entertainment. This change poses unresolved issues. Therefore, this research forum and symposium propose a focus on this problem. Through design research, innovative, transformative, and regenerative thinking is suggested to reconnect interpersonal relationships and re-establish a societal system for sustainable development. Based on the conference theme and topics of continued concern and discussion in international design research, the following submission topics are defined:

A. Post-pandemic design B. Sustainable design C. Design education D. Human-centered design E. Visual communication F. Product design G. Urban and rural space H. Community development I. Digital media J. Interactive interfaces K. Brand innovation L. Cross-disciplinary design M. Other design-related fields
